A Special Thank You

Each person who has lent a hand to Hope in Bloom has made a difference for our recipients. However, Donald Irving is one man whose generosity is unsurpassed.

When Don’s daughter, Brenda Cooke, introduced him to Hope in Bloom, he wanted to help. He purchased Hope in Bloom tee shirts for our volunteers and underwrote the cost of two container and five in-ground gardens, which were designed by Brenda, who is one of our landscapers.

Don lost his wife, Joyce, to breast cancer in 2002. She was the prime gardener in the family, but Don was a quick study. Over their 38 years together, their talented hands created a colorful yard bursting with flowers. Through Don’s kindness, Joyce’s spirit lives on in gardens that will be cherished for years to come.

Don passed away in 2008 and will be missed by everyone he touched.
